Chicago 2016 held a press summit today in Chicago. The summit gave the world press a chance to meet the 2010 American team for the upcoming winter games in Vancouver. With the world press there it was also an opportunity to showcase Chicago, the city, and their plan for the 2016 games. Everyone in Chicago has been quietly holding there breath waiting for the announcement Oct. 2, Where the Olympic committee will say where they have selected to hold the 2016 summer Olympic games. We see it as a economic boon that will hopefully salvage a sagging midwestern economy. We were there videotaping for the 2016 publicity group. Motion Video has been already booked by NBC to cover the announcement Friday, Oct 2. Stay tuned…..

Picture Show in cooperation with Core 12 hired us to shoot the third installment of their critically acclaimed instructional guitar educational dvds. We had collaberated on The “Mark Tremonti The Sound and The Story”production in 2008. Mark formally of the band Creed and now with Alter Bridge, has been named Guitar Player of the year by Guitar Player Magazine. More recently, we spent three days in the studio shooting Leslie West of Mountain fame (Mississppi Queen). This time the subject was Troy Stetina, not a household name but well known as a instructor to the stars. This guy has forgotten more than most of us will ever know musically. He’s truly a master of the fretboard.
We used 3 cameras to cover Troy’s licks, coupled with insightful dialogue to help you understand some of the finer points. Picture Show does a great job at putting these things together. Goto fret12.com to find out more or www.motionvideo.tv

Tonight our team covered the 4th annual Big Fish Ball, put on by the “Friends of the River” (Chicago) Association. This group along with corporate sponsors are helping to revive the once “dead” Chicago River. The river runs right through the heart of downtown and divides the area into neighborhoods. It was abandoned by the city for many years, becoming an industrial dumping ground killing off almost every species that lived there. Thanks to this group and others, there are now over 70 different fish species, along with turtles, beaver, mink and even fresh water mussels living comfortably in the countries third largest city.
The Ball was a huge success. Thanks to the Friends of the River assoc. for bringing us on to such a worthwhile cause.

Three term Sec. of State Jesse White has begun seeking his forth term. They hired us, Motion Video to come in and shoot some testimonial video for the campaign web site. We edited the interview down to six 1-2 minute clips, that highlight all the achievements that this administration has accomplished in their 10 years in office.
Sec. White is a very personable man with many lifetimes worth of stories.Aside from his tumblers organization, he was a Green Beret, a member of Martin Luther King’s Parish and even a Chicago Cub that toured the minor leagues with roommate Lou Brock. I’m pitching a one hour doc/bio pic in an attempt to tell the world about about him and his legendary career. After spending the day with him he got the crew’s vote. Blogging from Motion Video, a Chicago based video production company. We are fortunate to stay busy, in what can be a tough business to stay afloat in a challenging economy. The reason, we are well connected with corporate, broadcast and Internet video clientele. I decided to start a blog about our day to day experiences as it may be interesting to some. I feel privileged at times to work with famous people and attend events that shape the world. Today, contracted by The Fox News Network, we covered President Obama’s speech at the AMA conference in Chicago.
It was interesting to see the news anchor’s report on the event afterwards, leading with “The skeptical doctors in attendance booed the President at times” The reality…. the audience couldn’t have been more thrilled to attend the Presidents appearance. They were almost giddy at times, with standing applause at least 5 times by my count. There were a few boos at one point when Obama said he wouldn’t put a cap on malpractice lawsuits, but that was a very small group and it seemed to be in a joking context. It is my 5th time covering an Obama event in the past year and whether you agree or disagree with his politics, you can’t deny there is an excitement that fills the air when he speaks.
